Awareness
We know these can be tough topics to talk about, but we also know that we have to face them to make a change in each community. It’s already a factor in our own homes, with our neighbors, in our families and where we work…and it is up to us to start looking around and see what is right before us. We have created some simple situations/conversations you can use or start with in your own circle. We believe it just takes you knowing what to look for, what you can say, and how to act to give you the confidence to continue to make a change.
Another simple way is by creating an opportunity for a “REAL Conversation” with family, friends or small group, hosted by a Life4Real leader. Life4Real is made up of individuals, just like you, who have committed to start where we are, and just take one step at a time to learn more about the hardships in our community and how we can connect with those in need.
Community Resource Cards
Even if you don’t know much, you can share the resources in your community. The cards will answer questions like…Where do I go for help for food, is there a shelter near me, and/or who can help me find clothes? Who can I trust if I need help in an abusive situation?
Each community resource card lists local partners that can be contacted for help in crisis. On our website is a more expansive that will be updated on a regular basis. We welcome suggestions from you about local resources we have not included.
Take a stack to share with family, friends, neighbors and those in your community. Contact Life4Real for more details on how you can get cards to hand out. Also, share the resources QR code on our website.
L4R Street Teams
Bridging the gap in our community requires connecting with each other to share information and resources. Our Street Teams work to build relationships with local shops, restaurants, organizations, & businesses with the goal that we come together to connect resources to those in need.
How It Works:
#1: We share the resource cards with our local businesses to set out on their counters for customers to pick up. They are small enough to tuck away.
#2: We encourage our partners to place a QR coded sticker on the doors/windows of their location. This code directly links to a webpage with a detailed list of resources right in that community. Its quick and easy!
#3: We invite organizations to become local drop off locations for clothing/items and/or host a clothing/essential items drive for our partners and those in the community.
#4: We will offer in-services to businesses, that are partnering with us, on how to recognize those at risk or in crisis.
REAL Conversations
It is hard to start a conversation with someone if we don’t feel comfortable knowing what to say. These simple conversations, led by Life4Real leaders, will help you gain a deeper insight into the things happening in your community and provide a foundation for discussion with others. These can be in person or through zoom.
